We currently have openings for Research Programmers in the Human Services business unit. As a Research Programmer, you will be part of our research team in either our Princeton, NJ, Cambridge, MA, Chicago, IL, Oakland, CA, or Washington, DC office locations. We are seeking Research Programmers to perform tasks in the following areas:
Write programs in SAS, Stata, or R to extract, clean, and format data and to create variables for use in analyses
Construct datasets and prepare data files from survey instruments
Produce descriptive statistics
Perform statistical analyses of data
Prepare tables and graphs based on data analyses
Interpret data outputs and articulate findings to researchers
- Assist with data management and analysis of federal, state, and local information systems.
- Perform software quality assurance and testing, including the development of testing tools using a variety of technologies including Microsoft Office, SQL, .NET, C#, Python, R, and SAS among others.
- Provide technical assistance to federal and state agencies on performance measurement, performance analysis, data quality, and reporting and validation software.
Assist in the development of reporting specifications and user manuals.
Assist in the definition, specification, and documentation of data and security requirements.
Assist with writing reports and memos
Conduct site visits and/or interviews with organizations and study participants
Assist with any other project activities as needed
Track financial progress of projects using Excel
Prepare monthly assessment reports
Assist with budgeting and contract proposals
Strong educational background and a BA/BS in relevant field (economics, public policy, sociology, statistics, mathematics, operations research or political science)
0 - 1 year of programming experience in an internship or academic environment using SAS, Stata, R, Python or a similar language. GIS experience is a plus.
Demonstrated interest in data management and or program operations through relevant job or academic experience.
Familiarity with data profiling and analysis using Excel, VBA and/or SQL is a plus.
