We are seeking a motivated Client Solution Architect / Senior Client Solution Architect who is passionate about leading projects and technical teams developing data-driven solutions that guide decision-making in U.S. health and public health policy. This is a client-facing leadership role that involves owning the technical solution and managing the relationship between the customer and Mathematica for a given project/engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of SQL, Python, R, Snowflake, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Individuals with an interest in confronting the challenges of working with large, complex data sets, an interest in data manipulation and statistical analysis, a passion for overseeing and growing a team of developers, and a desire to become a subject matter expert in health care data are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams combining data analytics, visualization, and development of analytics products such as interactive dashboards and data driven applications.
  • Lead the design of data pipelines and perform analytics involving large administrative data sources such as state Medicaid claims and APCDs, as well as clinical data sources such as EHRs and HIEs, to effectively answer research questions about health care policy.
  • Incorporate client and other stakeholder needs into solution design, communication planning, and project scope.
  • Develop a budget and staffing plan to produce the required solutions in context of internal / external constraints and Mathematica's contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate internal project functions and processes and suggest improvements.
  • Collaborate across internal technology, analytics, and advisory services teams.
  • Actively support the advancement of organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and apply diversity, equity, and inclusion lens across job responsibilities.
  • Interface with clients for 50% or more of your time (with occasional in-person meetings).
  • Apply excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to mitigate project risk.
  • Contribute to the growth of the business through significant proposal contributions (expressions of interest, planning / design, content, budget staffing, successfully directing projects, etc.)

Position Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in computer science, public health, analytics, or other related field, or equivalent working experience.
  • 10+ years (for Senior Client Solutions Architect), 7+ years (for Client Solutions Architect) of experience implementing data collection, storage, analysis, and visualization solutions, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • 5 years of experience managing Federal, State, or commercial projects.
  • Knowledge of technologies such as SQL, Python, Snowflake, Tableau, and QuickSight for BI platforms.
  • Knowledge of the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence).
  • Knowledge of project management fundamentals, including the ability to develop and implement accurate work plans, schedules, staffing plans, and budgets, in an Agile methodology.
  • Conceptual and practical knowledge of health data (e.g. commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, or APCD claims data; EHR and/or HIE data; healthcare informatics; medical coding).
  • Ability to describe difficult technical problems and solutions to a non-technical audience.
  • Expert organizational and communication skills, and the ability to build consensus.
  • Proven quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability translate findings to both technical and non-technical, as well as internal and external (client) audiences.
  • Understanding of change management and matrix organizational management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Experience building and leading teams.
  • Preferred experience: experience directing multi-million dollar projects.
  • Preferred experience: experience with health interoperability standards (e.g. FHIR) and common data models (e.g. OMOP).

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $145,000 - $185,000 for Senior Client Solution Architect, and $125,000 - $160,000 for Client Solution Architect.This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance. Staff in our Health unit will eventually work with our largest client, Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS). Most staff working on CMS contracts will be required to complete a successful background investigation including the Questionnaire for Public Trust Position SF-85. Staff that are unable to successfully undergo the background investigation will need to be able to obtain work outside CMS. Staff will work with their supervisor to get re-staffed, however if they are unable to do so it may result in employment termination due to lack of work.
