Senior Salesforce Developer - open to FTE or Independent Consultant (Remote eligible)

Position Description:

We collaborate closely with public- and private-sector partners to translate big questions into deep insights that improve programs, refine strategies, and enhance understanding using technology and advanced analytics. Our work yields actionable information to guide decisions in wide-ranging policy areas, from health, education, early childhood, and family support to nutrition, employment, disability, and international development.

We are looking for either a full-time Mathematica employee or an Independent Consultant with their own LLC. The Senior Salesforce Developer is an opportunity focused on designing, developing, and implementing customized solutions within the Salesforce platform to support our projects with our clients in the public sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical expert on Salesforce.com implementations and assist the team to think through alternate solutions to avoid any challenges with functionalities planned for delivery later per the roadmap.
  • Designing and developing custom applications, features, and integrations within the Salesforce platform.
  • Collaborating with SMEs, business analysts and project managers to gather and analyze requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user guides.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for new and existing applications to ensure that projects can effectively use them.
  • Ensuring the quality and performance of Salesforce solutions through rigorous testing and debugging.
  • Managing applications after they have been launched to ensure that they are performing as expected.
  • Regularly update platforms to meet evolving client needs.
  • Providing ongoing support and maintenance for Salesforce applications, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Define best practices and coding standards and implement on projects
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest Salesforce technologies, best practices, and industry trends.

Position Requirements:

  • If you want to be considered an Independent Consultant, you must have your own business and be willing to as an independent contractor (not a regular-status employee).
  • Minimum 7 years Salesforce development and design experience working in high-paced environment.
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce platform's architecture, capabilities, and limitations, enabling them to create tailored applications and features.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and implement them as functional solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Salesforce data model and governor limits
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Components, as well as web development technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to build custom applications, integrations, and user interfaces within the Salesforce environment.
  • Adept problem-solver and critical thinker who excels at identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work on multiple projects at any given time.
  • Preferably a Graduate degree.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)
  • Proficient with tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Salesforce certifications a plus.
  • Strong mentorship skills to mentor several junior staff members.
  • Ability to support other project work like project management, business analysis, quality assurance a plus.
  • As a federal government contractor, all independent contractors are required to successfully undergo a background check as a condition of employment.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • This independent contractor will be required to complete and successfully pass the Department of Education (RSA branch) moderate security clearance. They will be required to complete various agency forms (Declaration of Federal Employment (OF306), Fair Credit Reporting Act form, SF-85 form which is completed online via NBIS portal and lastly fingerprinted). Mathematica’s project and Human Resources staff will assist with this clearance process. If the contractor is unable to obtain a positive clearance result, the agreement for consultant work will immediately be terminated.

For candidates seeking full-time employment, this position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $110,000 - $150,000. This full-time position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.

If you join as an Independent Contractor, the position offers an anticipated hourly rate up to $130 per hour.
